Hi, everyone.
With last years ice fishing season being one of our best ever on Saginaw Bay. And with all our walleyes health and population signs pointing towards equally good seasons on the horizon (depending on ice conditions of course) I've decided to amplify what I offer with the sale of my GPS waypoints, in conjunction with my partnership with Electronic Guide Service Go to this link to view and purchase this new package. It will inlcude all my personal favorite and successfull Ice Fishing waypoints for both North and South inner Saginaw Bay locations.
This will be a "Total Ice Fishing Package" for Saginaw Bay, and will be geared toward and for occassional visitors or people coming here for the first time. It will include specific ice access locations and directions for both the Bay and the Saginaw River, in case wind/weather conditions make it un-safe for Bay access. And will include inside info about do's and don't's at each location. It will also include local/nearby Hotel/Motel names, info. Rates, phone numbers, accomdations and their locations in conjunction to the nearest Bay/River access sites. It will also include Bait shop locations, they're available tackle selections, phone numbers, times open and my own historic recollections on live bait types, quality and availability over the years to save you what might be a wasted trip. This package will include everything I can think of to save you both time, money and a wasted trip. And to put you on the fish as fast and as safely as I can.
If you decided you would like a charted trip versus buying and using my GPS numbers, what I do is a little different.
I take no advance deposits for any specific dates. Because of the variables and conditions that ice fishing presents, I simply take your name and phone number and place you on a list. When the ice conditions get good and safe I call from this list (starting from the top) after making sure the wind and weather conditions are going to be safe for a trip out. This is short notice I know. And if you can go, we go. If not, no hard feelings and you stay on the list in your place and most likely I'll call you again. If you can only go on weekends, I put that down and only call you for weekend dates. If that's sound O. K. to you, call or E-mail me back your name as well as your Phone number. But remember, no groups. I only take 1 or 2 people at a time. But for those wanting to bring their own gear, have bigger fishing parties, or simply do it themselves, this package will be a must have. Capt. Dan.

A fishery that is as old and full of history on Saginaw Bay, (since the first settlers came to the Bay area)
Is it's Ice Fishing.
- Many a family survived during the depression when it's male, and sometime female members, spent all winter looking down a shanty hole spearing pickerel.
- Pickerel, is what Grandpa called walleye, and everything else that swam for that matter. My Grandpa told me many a story of the double team horses that hauled His shanty's out and of the buyer that drove his Model A Ford Pickup out on the ice and delivered fire wood and bought the weeks catch for 10 cents a pound.
- I don't think ice fishing would be as much fun if given these same circumstances today.
- 2002 Was my first year of ice guiding on the Bay. My dog sled and Otter Skin shanty worked out perfect for both transporting and fishing in comfort on the ice. Just click on my photo gallery and you'll see what I mean.

- The Captain will be fishing in the shanty with you all day. Trips start just after daylight and last until just before dark, or end when a legal limit catch is reached.
- All the gear / bait / shaty / heater / transportation / drinks and lunches will be provided.
- You will simply dress warm and show up. There will be a two person per trip limit.
- The price for each will be $125.00. I will take just 1 person if circumstance dictates, for this same single fee.
