| A fishery which has rebounded in the last 5 years is the spring smallmouth fishery on the Tittabawassee River. Even though I don't target these fish before the season opens, many are caught coincidentally. These fish are active because of their spawning cycle from the last of April through mid-June. Catching over 50 of these rod busters a day is not uncommon. Smallmouth reaching up to 5 pounds is becoming the rule versus the exception. And the great part is; there is absolutely no competion for these fish.
The technique used to catch these willing biters is easy to learn and depends more on boat control and placement. Its also a perfect way to introduce younger anglers to an easy and productive fishing technique.
